still running...

T-Ball is in full swing now and Sammy is getting better everyday. He can bat left or right handed, but I think he does better with his right hand. Daddy has been practicing with him in the yard a lot and he seems to like it :)
Sydney is still training with her running club after school and preparing for her 1st 5K! I thought I might try it with her, but I may be walking most of the way hahaha...  I've been trying to train as well, but the last bout of chemo (or the current clinical trial I'm on, not sure which) has caused neuropathy in my hands and feet, making it very difficult to run and stabilize myself. I get a little dizzy and my equilibrium feels off, strange?  - But I'm still trying!!
Can't complain too much, I'm still here and enjoying life!

on the run again, literally

Last week Sydney started the running club at school and Sammy started his first year at T-Ball. Well, turns out Sydney has practice on Fridays from 3-4 after school and Sammy's practice starts at 4:00! What was I thinking -AGAIN!?!? Not only that but I had my clinical trial was today (Fri), which kicks my butt. But, I sucked it up and did my job (albeit very grouchily). But I digress.

Sydney's running club seems like it's going to be lots of fun. Our (meaning I am running too) goal is to be able to run a 5K in May! It's been about a year since I've run, so it's going to take quite a bit of hard work on my part. The kids really seem to be enjoying it though. We've got, I think about 24 4th and 5th graders, 1/2 boys, 1/2 girls. Their leader Karen D. has come up with the name "Indian Woods Ground Pounders", and they even have a cadence to run to! LOL- it's very cool
Sammy's T-Ball team looks very promising as well. They are a great bunch of kids. At practice they all go out and try their hardest. It's so cute to see those little 5 & 6 year olds giving it all they've got! Sammy loves to be the catcher. He's even got the stance down. He can also bat with both his right and his left, something to his advantage for the future :)
Please keep me and the kids in your prayers while we are out there getting healthier and havin' some fun! Let the Running Continue........

still no win

this past weekend Sydney had her second to last basketball game with her Upwards team. The girls are definitely showing improvement, but still no win :(  They played hard, Sydney scored for her team again (Yay!) and they only lost by 9 pts. Final scoe 17 to 8. The lowest scoring game so far, which goes to show their defence is getting better. One more game to go. Who knows, maybe they'll win?!

SCORE!

Well even though Sydney's basketball team (the Diamonds that is) has a slim chance of finishing off the season with at least one win, she has managed to score a few times against the monsters they call the other team (or the so-called Emeralds). This past Saturday they gave them a run for their money only trailing 10 pts behind in the end. Sydney contributed with an assist, and scored 2pts for the team!

I guess I should explain that in the league she's playing on now, they only had enough girls sign up to make two teams. And while her team is a pretty good mixture of 4th-6th graders with some skills, but still learning at the same time, the other team is made of mostly ginormous 6th grade girls with a few years experience, and freakishly tall 4th and 5th graders. BUT that doesn't get them down. They give it their ALL Everytime and Never Give Up! Plus it's great practice for when they get into middle school and high school. It'll give them an edge. While these other girls, which have not been fully challenged, will be faced with "real" competition someday and not be prepared for it. At least that's what I tell myself ;-)

We have a couple more games left...it sure would be nice to win one.

sports, sports, sports

The kids have been enjoying their extra-curricular activities, and as usual mom is snapping the pictures. Sydney played basketball for both the PHASD and Upwards this year and just loves it!
Sammy played flag football again this past fall and we just signed him up for T-Ball, which will be starting up in the spring. They both recently started back up in their swimming classes and are really excelling. Sydney has always been a strong swimmer, but I never really noticed how well Sammy can swim as well...who knows, maybe we're looking at future Olympians! :)
